Advocate For You – Poetry By Angela McCrimmon

I've finally found my purpose, the reason I'm alive,

Everything's beginning to make sense,

For all the points of crisis I've managed to survive,

For all the times my suffering was immense.

I've found an understanding that others won't possess,

An empathy of which I now can share,

Accepting in myself that sometimes more is less,

Believing that we never should compare.

I know what it's like to spiral your way down,

So far that you find it hard to breathe

That's why I'm here to tell you you won't drown,

I'm a living testimony to believe.

I'm going to fight for justice for the ones who cannot speak

I'll stand up and help them have their say,

I'll give them inner strength when they are feeling weak,

When lost I will help them find their way.

I cannot deny that I've been to hell and back,

I cannot deny I'd given in,

Destruction where I felt I couldn't backtrack,

Nothing but such guilt and hate within.

I've survived for a reason for I know that it's true,

I just should not be standing here today,

I'm here to fight for me and I'm here to fight for you,

I'll fight for us until my dying day.
